Hello Margot, it's nice to see that my fans are all suitably eccentric, paranoid and neurotic ­ I mean that in a nice way. In the event of me being unable to use these passwords/usernames that you provided for me in the scrapbook ­ since I am away at the moment ­ I see that I must find some other way to reassure you that it really is me saying thank you to you all. I¹m afraid that I am very bad when it comes to replying to fan mail. I do my best, but there is a great deal of it after Harry Potter, as you can imagine. It is therefore very very useful for me that you have set up this wonderful site so that I can express my gratitude to you all en masse. You have done an amazing job with it all. Many of the photos are new, even to me! Lots of them bring back many happy memories. I am particularly grateful for the pictures of myself and Katrin Cartlidge, who, as you may know, passed away a few years ago. I did not have any of these pictures in my possession, and now I have, thanks to you. I have to say that I think you're all bonkers getting yourselves all worked up over a chump like me, but..it's very nice all the same. Now one of you will go and have this letter analysed like you did with that hoaxer, and I'll come out looking like an albino Portuguese lady with a zinc deficiency or something. Note that my spelling of analyse is British, by the way.

By the way, you have my mum to thank for telling me about you all. I bought her a computer for Christmas and she's only gone and learned how to use it. She thought it was terrible that I hadn¹t said thank you to you all. And so it was..so now I'm putting it right. Lots of love to you.
